Gen!us Grange Cricket

Genius Brewing is excited to announce a four-year partnership with Grange Cricket Club to become the club’s main sponsor. Playing as Gen!us Grange, the Edinburgh club will feature the Gen!us logo on team clothing as they play in league and cup competitions over the next four seasons.

Founded in 1832, The Grange is one of Scotland’s largest and most successful cricket clubs putting out three Saturday League men’s teams, a Sunday/Midweek side, and this year, launching a women’s team. In 2018, The Grange became the first club to win the treble: Eastern Premier League Champions; National Club Champions; and the Scottish Cup. Its current 1st XI squad includes many former Scotland international players such as Preston Mommsen and as well as current Scotland all-rounder Dylan Budge.

The Grange’s iconic ground in Edinburgh’s Stockbridge area is the regular home of the Scotland national cricket team and has hosted numerous high-profile international matches including the famous first win for Scotland over England in 2018.

Genius Brewing launched Gen!us Craft Lager in 2018, with a mission to make healthier drinking a pleasure, not a compromise. The UK’s first light craft lager, Gen!us is 3% ABV and only 79 calories per can – less than an apple. It won Best UK Craft Lager at the LUX Life Food & Drink Awards 2019.

Co-founder Jason Clarke said: “Gen!us is about making a great beer part of a balanced, healthier lifestyle and so sport is a natural arena for us. With over one hundred and thirty clubs and an increasingly successful national team, Scottish cricket is in fine health. We’re excited to be partnering with The Grange and sharing our #SmartDrinking ethos with the members, players, and spectators of this great club.”

Genius Brewing are Official Fundraising Partners of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, donating 5p from every can of Gen!us. Charlie Craig, Genius co-founder said, “Having built a strong engagement with Scotland’s rugby fans, we wanted to make our fundraising more year-round and inspire Scotland’s cricket community to also help tackle MND.”

Rawdon Hesketh , Honorary President of Grange CC said, “We are delighted to have Genius Brewing as our partner for the next four years; an historic club with a great cricketing history, and an innovative beer brand looking to grow. Playing as Gen!us Grange, our association will work well on the field of play and taste great in the bar afterwards!”
