Life's a Beach at Elie (May 2024)

Beach cricket in Elie is a unique experience and a big part of the summer in Fife. The Ship Inn, which overlooks the beautiful beach, regularly hosts teams from across the country for 30-over games. Genius Brewing was delighted to sponsor the season’s opening match versus Kilmalcolm Cricket Club.

Even beach cricket can be thirsty work and throughout the day, our Gen!us light craft beers kept the players and spectators refreshed. At 3% ABV, Gen!us Craft Lager and Gen!us IPA are the ideal session beers for a day in the sun watching sport. Both our low-calorie craft beers were available in 330ml cans, with Gen!us Craft Lager also on draft.

The Ship Inn is always at the heart of Elie’s hospitality. Perfectly positioned overlooking the beach, the cosy traditional pub also has a beach bar with a perfect view of the cricket. Despite the Spring chill, spectators filled the bar to catch former Rangers and Scotland football legend Ally McCoist at the wicket for Kilmacolm.

The Ship Inn ran out worthy, if rather wet, winners. All the players retired to the beach bar for afternoon tea and ample pints of Gen!us.
